Translation removed

Hi all! Long time no see! I don’t know about anyone else who happens to wander by this site, but I definitely thought E would be out by now. Uh, actually, was kind of hoping that 2003 would be out by now, too. Instead we’ve been in a holding pattern since 2016…

I always intended to take this translation down by the time Yen Press got to the 1935 arc, and 1932-Summer just came out. So… you know. I’ve made the entries inaccessible. I hope you understand. On the off-chance you don’t… well, frankly, I don’t think we’d be friends in that case. This was something I did for fun, and so that my friends in the tumblr Baccano! fandom could talk about 1935-D with me. That’s all.

Again, I encourage anyone who read my translation to purchase the Japanese (I link to buying options here) or to buy the English when it comes out.

I will not be creating a PDF

Hi everybody! I’m just about halfway through translating Luckstreet Boys, and I’ve been giving some more thought to the question of whether or not I’ll be compiling it into a PDF or an ebook when I finish.

With apologies, I’ve decided not to compile it in that way.

Especially now that Baccano! has been licensed for English release, I’m not comfortable creating a downloadable copy of the book that can–and, past evidence suggests, will–then be distributed and redistributed without my knowledge or permission. Look, when the licensing was announced, at least one translator took down their PDFs and made a specific request that people stop distributing their translations… to no avail. Those novels are still going around.

So I’ve decided not to make that easy for people.

Look, people are still going to do it. If you, an individual person, want to make a PDF or ebook version so that it’s easier to read on your phone than clicking through a bunch of WordPress entries–go ahead! Do that for yourself! But the keyword here is for yourself. I don’t want them to wind up on the Internet at large. I don’t want to wind up on a masterlist that wanders around tumblr even after I’ve decided that it’s time for my translations to leave the Internet so that the official ones–the ones that are actually going to put money in Narita’s pocket–can shine.
